Throughout our 50-year history, GRSM has championed Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) principles. Sustainability, social justice and corporate responsibility shape our values. In a variety of initiatives and pro bono efforts, we seek to make a positive impact on our communities and the world at large.
At GRSM, we recognize the profound influence that ESG principles have on individuals and in our communities. We are proud to contribute to a more sustainable, inclusive and just future for all.
GRSM takes its role as a socially responsible business seriously. We are dedicated to preserving and protecting the environment for future generations. Firm management and our entire partnership are actively implementing practices aimed at combating climate change and reducing our carbon footprint. Examples of our key initiatives include:
- Recycling and waste management programs across all our locations
- Use of natural and sustainable products, building components, and office supplies are a priority
- Procurement of energy-efficient products and services
- E-waste collection, disposal and recycling, even if generated outside the firm’s business by our employees
- Reduced air travel and optimization of teleconferencing
- Flexible remote work policies where appropriate to reduce employees’ carbon footprints
- Commuting policies for mass transit, carpools and bicycles
- Energy efficiency in the physical spaces we occupy, including thermally efficient, LEED-certified advanced technologies for optimal efficiency
- Best practices in energy conservation, such as flow-controlled water utilities, automated low-power and sleeping modes for lighting, computers, HVAC systems, and other equipment

GRSM has a rich tradition of community service. Active involvement in charitable, educational and professional organizations is a cornerstone of our firm culture.
Across all 50 states, our members are encouraged to engage with organizations that enhance the well-being of the communities where we live and work.
We respond to the diverse needs of our communities. GRSM attorneys and staff hold leadership positions and volunteer with a wide range of organizations. Their missions focus on education, health, youth, seniors, social services, minority and women-owned businesses (MWBEs), veterans and military families, homelessness and housing, employment, arts, faith, animals, the environment, and many other causes.
Our engagement with local and national bar associations promotes equality and supports diverse lawyers and communities. Many of our commitments center around underserved youth and educational opportunities. Our attorneys, in partnership with several nonprofits, have advocated for the welfare of children and prevention of gender violence.
Pro bono representation is where our profession and the community connect with great impact.
Our pro bono work assists individuals and groups with critical legal needs. Moreover, we collaborate with our corporate clients on pro bono initiatives. We encourage every member of our firm to participate in pro bono work as part of their professional obligation and to increase access to justice.
Attorneys can select pro bono opportunities that align with their unique interests, time availability and experience. Pro bono projects cover the critical issues of our times, including education, immigration, veteran’s affairs, housing, criminal justice, women’s rights, racial justice, LGBTQ+ rights, disability rights and more.
GRSM’s active partnerships with social justice groups have supported such causes as pathways to citizenship, and upgrades to military discharges, among others.
