The Finance and Accounting Departments provide internal financial support for all offices firmwide and are responsible for the production of the external financial statements. Areas of expertise include billing, collections, treasury, payroll, trust, accounts payable, general ledger, and financial reporting and analysis. Roles vary from entry level to manager level and moving between the disciplines is encouraged. The 50 state initiative has also increased the need for knowledge in state level compliance and taxation.

The Human Resources Department is responsible for maintaining a high degree of employee relations within the firm. This includes staffing, performance management, compensation, health and safety, and firm protocol and legal compliance. The department provides support and services to approximately 3,000 staff and attorneys nationwide.

The Information Technology Department manages technologies that empower our attorneys and staff to collaboratively work and communicate with our clients and each other effectively. Our goals are to position technology as a contributing component in delivering the highest quality legal services and work product while doing so in an efficient, cost-effective manner. Our objectives also include the development of legal and administrative skill sets to incorporate and embed legal practice technologists within each practice team and the firm’s administrative departments.

Technology can offer strategic benefits in supporting our clients, enhancing our operations, improving efficiency, and helping to manage time. We use proven software solutions that can scale to service a variety of client needs. Technology currently deployed at the firm includes comprehensive case management databases, advanced email functionality, sophisticated document management systems, client document ESI review databases, imaging, transcript management, electronic billing capabilities and secure internet/extranet access and web sharing tools for a broad level of collaboration.

The firm’s Legal Support work directly with attorneys in a fast-paced team environment supporting a range of complex practice areas across the United States and beyond. We offer roles for experienced legal professionals and entry-level positions with on-the-job training for those who are interested in a career in the legal industry. There are remote flexible opportunities for paralegals, secretaries, case assistants, and administrative assistants.

The Marketing Department collaborates with attorneys firmwide on their marketing and business development efforts to expand and strengthen client relationships and enhance brand recognition. Members of the marketing team are cross-trained to support various projects and initiatives for the firm’s national practice groups and offices. Specific areas of focus include support for client proposals, market visibility and recognition efforts, communications, events and sponsorships, general business development activities, and more.

The Recruiting Department guides lateral partner candidates throughout introductions and the onboarding process, working closely with the firm’s leadership and firm administration. The team is responsible for safeguarding sensitive discussions on a need-to-know level with the utmost confidentiality and discretion. Recruiting staff are service oriented and often feature blended backgrounds in legal support, legal recruiting, and human resources.

The Risk Management Department is responsible for building and monitoring the firm’s risk management framework. This includes a primary focus on identifying and resolving potential conflicts of interest, but also includes a variety of other compliance and risk mitigation responsibilities. Members of the Risk Team are generally cross trained, but various positions have concentrations in conflict analysis (new business and new hires), database maintenance, information security, and client/matter intake.
