Phoenix Employment partner Deanna Rader presented a seminar entitled "Effective Student Handbooks: Practical and Legal Considerations" at the annual Arizona Charter School Association Conference on November 11-12 in Glendale, Arizona. Deanna's presentation was part of the pre-conference Legal Issues Summit.
Deanna addressed the importance of creating a student handbook tailored to the unique needs of charter schools. She also discussed the types of policies that are necessary to include in a handbook, what to do to ensure the policies provide students and parents with comprehensive information about the school's policies and procedures, and how to prepare policies that provide staff with guidance and appropriate options while minimizing the risk of liability.
