Gordon & Rees Los Angeles partner Phillip Maltin will present two seminars on identifying liars in the workplace, during which he will teach executives and business leaders how to identify facial expressions that broadcast a person’s emotions, and body movements that betray a person’s real motives — even if his or her words tell a different story.
On September 24, Maltin will present a three-hour seminar on “How to Spot a Liar” at the Club Managers Association of America’s executive luncheon in Mequon, WI, during which country club executives from across the region will receive the tools to recognize subtle behaviors that deliver unintended information associated with dishonesty.
Maltin will next deliver the keynote address at the 2013 HR Star Conference in Atlanta on October 10. Each year, more than 900 human resources professionals attend the HR Star Conference, and this year Maltin will open it by delivering his program, “I Can READ You: The Truth About Deception Detection and the Unintended Messages People Let Slip.”
Maltin is a trial lawyer and member of Gordon & Rees’s Employment Law and Commercial Litigation Practice Groups. As a nationally recognized speaker, he combines his knowledge of substantive law with experience gained as a criminal prosecutor and attorney in private practice. Maltin prosecutes criminal cases for the city of Los Angeles through the Fellowship Program of the prestigious Trial Advocacy Project, where he is a credentialed instructor. He also is nationally known as the creator of The READ System used to evaluate body language. Maltin is recognized as a Southern California Super Lawyer, an elite distinction given to no more than 5 percent of the Southern California Bar.
