Gordon & Rees partner Tom Packer spoke at the July 2015 Annual Meeting of the Federation of Defense and Corporate Counsel (FDCC) held in Banff Springs, Canada.
Packer, who serves as General Counsel to Gordon & Rees and is the Managing Partner of the firm’s Raleigh, North Carolina office, presented on “General Counsel in Law Firms” which discussed the advantages of law firms having a designated General Counsel and the situations where such a position provides direct benefits to a firm.
Packer handles product liability, environmental, professional liability and Directors, Officers and Shareholder matters, with his experience including lead defense counsel roles in jury trials and arbitrations. He has acted as national coordinating counsel in pharmaceutical, food contamination and dietary supplement litigation. He has defended matters involving drugs, toxic torts, silica and asbestos cases, groundwater contamination, food related litigation and professional liability cases, including health care and legal malpractice defense.
