Gordon & Rees Austin partner Michael R. Klatt, along with Austin U.S. District Court Judge Sam Sparks, recently lectured to the University of Texas law school advanced civil procedure class on Pretrial and Trial Strategy at the new federal district courthouse in Austin. Klatt presented on the topic "The Nuts & Bolts of Deposing Expert Witnesses," which is the ninth year he has been invited to give this lecture to law students at UT, where he received his undergraduate degree. Klatt also gives a similar invited lectures twice a year to all third year students at Baylor University School of Law.
Klatt is a litigator in the Drug & Medical Device and Tort & Product Liability practice groups, handling class actions, mass torts, and product liability cases. He focuses on the development of medical and scientific defenses to claims involving prescription and nonprescription pharmaceuticals, medical devices, and chemical exposures. His product liability experience also includes matters involving construction products, cosmetics, food contamination, and insecticides and pesticides.
