On November 5, Gordon & Rees Southern California partner Thomas J. Tobin will present at the Claims and Litigation Management Alliance (CLM) 2015 Environmental and Toxic Tort Conference. The event will be held November 5-6 in Atlanta, GA where speakers will address existing and emerging issues in the environmental, pollution and mass tort context.
Tobin will present with a toxicologist and a claims executive on a Benzene panel. Their presentation is “Current State of Benzene Litigation: Emerging Trends & Defense Strategies." The presenters will lead an in-depth discussion on recent legal decisions, newly published scientific studies, and emerging defense strategies in dealing with claims involving trace benzene litigation nationwide. The CLM conference committee chose Tobin to present on this topic given his extensive experience in the area.
Tobin co-chairs both the Agri-Chemical & Pesticides Practice Group as well as the Chemical Exposure subgroup of the Environmental & Toxic Tort practice group. His practice focuses on chemical exposure litigation, products liability, environmental litigation, and business litigation. Tobin represents a variety of clients against claims of personal injury as well as property and business damage from alleged exposure to pesticides, herbicides, chemicals (including benzene, silica, asbestos, diacetyl, carbon monoxide, and many others), toxic waste, and other substances. He defends clients in business matters involving crop loss, pesticide drift, and matters relating to all aspects of agricultural business.
