Gordon & Rees insurance litigation partners Asim Desai and Matt Foy will be featured speakers at the 2019 PLRB Claims Conference & Insurance Services Expo on March 31-April 3 in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Desai will deliver a presentation "Bad Faith Damages in Third-Party Claims," along with co-presenter, Kevin Willging, Executive Counsel for the Travelers Companies, in two separate sessions from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 2 and on Wednesday, April 3. Desai and Willging will engage their audience in a discussion on warning signs of bad-faith exposure in third-party contexts, emerging bad-faith issues and trends in the third-party claims, and warning signs of bad faith "set-ups" by third-party claimants and developing responsive action plans.
Foy will present "Privacy Claims: Emerging Coverage Issues," in two separate sessions: Tuesday, April 2 from 8:00 to 9:30 a.m. and on Wednesday, April 3 from 3:30 to 5:00 p.m. Foy will guide his audience in an depth look at coverage issues raised by cyber liability and privacy claims generated by data breaches, as well as analyze coverage for these claims under CGL policies. He will also highlight case law addressing CGL coverage and describe coverages provided under more specifically designed insurance products.
Asim Desai is a litigation partner in the firm's Los Angeles office. He has extensive experience in high-stakes, complex litigation including insurance bad faith, corporate fraud, commercial litigation, intellectual property, product liability, professional liability and catastrophic personal injuries.
Matt Foy is a partner in the San Francisco office and serves both as the National Practice Group Leader of the firm's Property and Casualty Insurance practice as well as the Practice Group Leader of the San Francisco Insurance group. He has more than 20 years of experience representing national insurers at the claims stage, in trial, and on appeal. Foy’s practice focuses on insurance coverage and bad faith litigation and advice involving first party property policies as well as primary and excess liability policies with an emphasis on personal and advertising injury, cyber-liability, complex fire litigation, environmental, asbestos, other mass torts, and construction defect matters.
