Chicago Partner Avanti Bakane Receives DePaul College of Law Outstanding Young Alumna Award

Avanti Bakane, partner in the firm’s Chicago office, will be honored by DePaul University College of Law Alumni Association with their Outstanding Young Alumna Award. This award recognizes the accomplishments of DePaul College of Law alumni under the age of 40 who have shown promise in their careers and have demonstrated a commitment to the community both in their personal and professional lives. Bakane graduated from DePaul University College of Law in 2009.

Bakane serves as co-chair of the firm’s South Asian Affinity Group and is a member of its Diversity Committee. She dedicates her time outside of the office to community in a myriad of ways. She serves as VP of Communications for the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association (NAPABA) and is a member of Leading India's Future Today's (LIFT) Board of Governors. She is a past President of the South Asian Bar Association of Chicago, past Honorary Board Member for the Asian American Bar Association of Chicago (AABA), and volunteers with several non-profit organizations to provide opportunities for underprivileged youth, end gender violence, and find homes for rescue dogs.

Bakane is experienced in complex class action, antitrust, breach of contract, and general commercial litigation with a focus on consumer class action defense. She also represents businesses and creative professionals in software and e-commerce development, data privacy, data loss, licensing, and copyright infringement disputes.

This honor will be presented during the DePaul College of Law Alumni Awards Luncheon along with recognition of other distinguished alumni May 20, 2020 in Chicago, Illinois.
