Gordon S. Woodward Joins Gordon & Rees as Partner in Commercial Litigation Practice Group

Gordon Rees Scully Mansukhani, the nation's first and only law firm with offices in all 50 states, welcomes Gordon S. Woodward as a Partner in the firm's Baltimore office. He joins the Commercial Litigation and Product & General Liability practice groups.

Mr. Woodward's practice concentrates on litigation matters, including construction, aviation, product liability, and related insurance coverage issues. His litigation experience involves jury trials as first and second chair, non-jury trials, and numerous arbitrations and mediations. In addition, he has significant experience in several non-litigation areas, including drafting construction contract documents, preparing complex insurance coverage opinions, and counseling nonprofit entities on governance and contractual matters.

Mr. Woodward was the manager of over 800 products liability cases on the Baltimore asbestos docket at his previous firm. He is a member of the DRI Insurance Law Committee, the CLM Construction Law Committee, the District of Columbia Defense Lawyers' Association, and the Bar Associations for the District of Columbia, Maryland, Virginia, and Minnesota. He is also on the Civil Pro Bono Panel for the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia.

Additionally, he has devoted his energy to community and pro bono work focusing on education, justice access, and civil rights. He worked for many years with the National Black Child Development Institute, a national association dedicated to supporting educators and assuring educational opportunities to minority students, eventually being elected to the Board of Directors. He was also active in the prosecution of Guantanamo Bay habeas corpus actions and secured the release and resettlement of five individuals from the detention facility at Guantanamo Bay.

Mr. Woodward was named to "Washington, D.C. Super Lawyers" for construction, litigation, and insurance coverage from 2012-2016 and 2018-2022. He was also a District of Columbia Pro Bono Honor Roll Recipient from 2012-2015 with High Honors.

He is admitted to practice in Minnesota, the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia. He earned his Master of Laws in Insurance Law at the University of Connecticut School of Law, his law degree from George Washington University Law School, and his undergraduate degree from the University of Minnesota.
