A recent jury award of $74 million has rocked the construction industry. The massive verdict arose from a seemingly routine personal injury case, but after all of the usual suspects turned out to be penniless, the sole focus of the lawsuit turned to the contractor who had just completed a construction project in the area. The plaintiffs alleged, and the jury agreed, that the contractor did not disclose its intended construction methods, which resulted in a life safety hazard.
