New York Senior Counsel Joseph T. Rivera, Jr. Receives Prestigious Alumni Achievement Award from Fordham Law

Gordon Rees Scully Mansukhani New York Senior Counsel, Joseph T. Rivera, Jr., is the 2021 recipient of the prestigious Andrew A. Rivera Alumni Achievement Award from the Latin American Law Students Association ("LALSA") at Fordham Law. LALSA is dedicated to serving Fordham Law students, alumni and the community at large by maintaining a community for Latinx legal professionals.

In selecting Rivera, a 2012 Fordham Law alumnus, LALSA cited his civic engagement and commitment to paying it forward through his roles as Deputy Regional President for the New York region’s Hispanic National Bar Association, co-chair of the La Unidad Latina Law Guild, co-chair of the Tufts Lawyers Association’s NYC Steering Committee, and continued participation as a LALSA Alumni Mentor. LALSA also commended Rivera for his recent success coaching Fordham Law students to a first place finish in a national trial advocacy competition and promotion to Senior Counsel at Gordon & Rees.

The Andrew A. Rivera Alumni Achievement Award was established to honor Rivera’s lasting contributions to Fordham Law and the Latino community. Past award winners include Hon. Arthur J. Gonzalez, retired Chief Judge, U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York; Hon. Julia I. Rodriguez, Judge, Civil Court of the City of New York, Bronx County; Hon. Jaime A. Rios, Supreme Court Justice, Queens County; and many other bar association presidents and leaders in the legal community. LALSA presented Joseph with this award at its 35th Annual Alumni and Awards Dinner on April 15, 2021.

Rivera is a member of the Product & General Liability practice group where he focuses his practice on defending foreign manufacturers, distributors and retailers, including various Fortune 500 companies, in complex commercial product liability actions in federal and state courts throughout the United States and Canada.
