Seattle Partner Sarah Turner to Deliver Cannabis in the Workplace Presentation for DRI Seminar

Seattle Partner Sarah Turner will be presenting a cross-seminar presentation entitled "The State of Cannabis in the Workplace" for DRI's Employment and Labor Law and Cannabis Law seminars on May 3 in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Ms. Turner's presentation will cover the "Green Wave" of states legalizing cannabis in the past decade, which resulted in 38 states and the District of Columbia legalizing cannabis for adult use, medicinal use, or both. She will explore the impact of this on employers in three areas: employers governed by federal law, under which cannabis is still illegal; how to accommodate medicinal use; and how to address an employee's off-duty use.

DRI is the largest international membership organization of attorneys defending the interests of business and individuals in civil litigation. The 2023 Cannabis Law Seminar will provide updates on the current state of cannabis legalization, the science behind cannabis intoxication, insurance concerns and opportunities for clients, and changes in the cannabis industry. The 2023 Employment and Labor Law Seminar will bring together leading management-side employment and labor attorneys, in-house counsel, human resources professionals, and EPLI representatives from throughout the U.S. and Canada to share workplace best practices.

Ms. Turner is a Co-Managing Partner of the firm's Seattle office and a member of the Employment and Cannabis practice groups. She litigates in state and federal trial and appellate courts. Her practice also includes counseling, training, and representing clients on a broad range of employment law issues, including hiring, review, and termination procedures, workplace investigations, discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and wage and hour law.
