Caroline Baird is a litigator and trial lawyer who focuses her practice on environmental and toxic tort, commercial litigation, and construction. Caroline handles a wide variety of litigation matters for clients involving complex commercial disputes, employment and business disputes, professional liability defenses, and product and premises liability claims. She regularly represents and counsels businesses that are involved in disputes with current and former employees, business associates, and third-parties bringing commercial and professional claims.

Caroline’s practice includes defending national corporations in commercial disputes, property damage, construction defect, product liability, and toxic tort litigation involving personal injury and wrongful death. Caroline also represents construction firms (contractors and subcontractors), developers, design professionals (architects and engineers), and multinational manufacturers, suppliers and retailers, in breach of contract, breach of express and implied warranty, and negligence claims. Caroline serves as national coordinating counsel for a national retailer, overseeing litigation strategy and ensuring consistent defense approaches across multiple jurisdictions.

Caroline has significant experience participating in all phases of litigation, including drafting responsive pleadings; drafting and arguing dispositive motions; drafting written discovery; conducting extensive document reviews; and participating in the depositions of fact and expert witnesses; assisting in trial preparation; and attending trial in both support roles and as first-chair. She has obtained favorable outcomes for her clients in state and federal courts, as well as ADR proceedings.

  • Trial counsel for equipment manufacturer in six-month jury trial in Oakland, California.
  • First chaired a trial, handling all aspects from jury selection to case presentation, which ultimately led to securing a dismissal in favor of her client.
  • Secured a complete dismissal of a defamation claim in which the plaintiff alleged that a realtor harmed her reputation by advising other landlords against leasing to her.
