Craig Smith

Associate

Craig Smith is an Associate in the Reno office of GRSM, where he focuses his practice on commercial litigation and general liability matters.

He received his law degree from the University of Northumbria at Newcastle and entered legal practice where he concentrated almost exclusively in litigation until his emigration to the United States. He has continued his legal career, gaining admission in two states, and represented a range of clients from institutions to individuals. He has considerable experience of litigation on both the plaintiff and defendant sides and so brings a unique sense of perspective to matters. He prides himself on his pragmatism in complicated cases and utilizes the same to achieve results for his clients. 

  • Obtained substantial damages against a state children’s home for historical abuse allegations.
  • Prevailed in summary judgment on claim of battery and failure to protect claims against state entities.
  • Prevailed in obtaining dismissal for minimal settlement of less than 10% of initial demand in a claim involving the loss of fingers.
  • Successful representation securing dismissal of all charges for nurse accused of multiple murders of patients in their care.
  • Successful negotiation and dismissal of litigation involving multiple landowners, planning permissions, association and contractual disputes for multi-million dollar retail development, concluding with multiple business owners moving to the new development and cooperating.
  • Successful defense of claim for potentially catastrophic injunctive relief against private equity firm in claim for money damages before the Federal Court.
