Richard E. Daniels

Senior Counsel

Richard Daniels is Senior Counsel in the GRSM Chicago office whose practice includes commercial litigation, employment law, tort litigation, and class action matters in federal and state court. Having clerked for GRSM during his second and third years of law school, Richard entered the practice of law with a running start and began handling complex matters at the outset of his legal career. Richard has experience representing clients on both sides and at all stages of litigation, giving him a well-rounded perspective to best serve clients’ needs. Richard’s clients include transportation companies, national retail businesses, property managers, manufacturers, and restaurants, for whom he provides employment, transactional, and compliance guidance.

In his litigation practice, Richard has successfully defended claims involving employment disputes, class actions, contract disputes, copyright issues, trucking and transportation lawsuits, and general tort actions. Richard also has experience defending product liability lawsuits, catastrophic injury cases, and actions brought under the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act (“BIPA”), the Illinois Genetic Information Privacy Act (“GIPA”), and federal Civil Rights claims.

Richard earned his J.D. from Loyola University Chicago School of Law with a Certificate in Advocacy, where he was a member of the American Bar Association Moot Court Team and externed for District Judge Jorge L. Alonso of the Northern District of Illinois.

  • Obtained dismissal of multiple intentional tort claims against corporate officers in their individual capacities arising from fraud and financial disputes.
  • Obtained voluntary and involuntary dismissals of several class action lawsuits brought under the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act (“BIPA”).
  • Resolved multiple catastrophic injury lawsuits arising from trucking accidents.
  • Obtained favorable results for a Fortune 20 company in multiple complex class actions in federal and state court.
  • During law school, served as Rule 711 Clerk to Special Prosecutor William X. Elward of the State’s Attorney’s Appellate Prosecutor’s Office, working on cases ranging from DUI to murder.
