Allison J. Becker is the Managing Partner of the firm’s Raleigh Office and the Co-Chair of the National Healthcare Practice Group. She brings a wealth of experience in high-stakes litigation, with a particular focus on representing healthcare companies and providers in high-exposure cases. Her practice combines strategic insight with practical, results-driven advocacy, allowing her to effectively navigate complex legal challenges on behalf of healthcare providers and corporate clients alike.

Allison’s healthcare practice involves defending providers against all manner of claims—including allegations of constitutional violations, whistleblower and qui tam claims, and malpractice matters involving catastrophic injury, birth injury, and wrongful death. Her proactive and strategic counsel ensures that her clients are well-positioned to navigate the complexities of these unique cases. In addition, Allison represents her healthcare clients before medical, dental, nursing, and mental health licensing boards. Allison has extensive experience defending correctional medical, dental, and mental health providers across the country against Section 1983 deliberate indifference claims and is frequently invited to speak and publish on this topic. Her understanding of the nuanced issues facing correctional and institutional healthcare providers enables her to offer both legal counsel and proactive risk management strategies tailored to their unique challenges.

Professional Liability Defense

Allison routinely defends malpractice claims against professionals in a wide range of industries, including healthcare providers, veterinarians, accountants, architects, engineers, attorneys, insurance agents and brokers, directors and officers, and real estate agents. In addition, Allison also advises and represents her clients in connection with professional licensing board investigations and inquiries.

Appellate

Allison handles appellate matters—including briefing and oral argument—for a wide variety of clients before the North Carolina Court of Appeals, the North Carolina Supreme Court, and Federal Courts of Appeals across the country. She also provides appellate advice to outside defense counsel prior to and during trial in order to identify potential appellate concerns and to ensure that all issues are properly preserved for appeal.
