Bryan M. Sumner is an Associate in the firm’s Raleigh office and he focuses his practice on providing clients with comprehensive legal counsel including trying cases to verdict. Prior to joining the firm, Bryan worked as both a transactional attorney and as a civil litigator at Raleigh area firms.
Bryan has experience handling a vast array of civil litigation claims for clients and providing sound legal counsel regarding contract disputes, business agreements, and risk assessment and management to business owners, entrepreneurs, nonprofit organizations, and both public and private board members in the Carolinas. Bryan’s experience also includes litigating civil matters involving municipalities, state and federal government agencies, colleges and universities, and large corporations dealing with allegations under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Family and Medical Leave Act, Section 1983, Section 1981, contract claims, and state law employment claims.
Bryan’s experience in the public sector working alongside Governor Roy Cooper’s general counsel, within the North Carolina General Assembly, and in the North Carolina Department of Justice have enriched his perspectives and contributed to his skills in high stakes advisement and civil litigation practice by allowing him to leverage unique vantage points when providing services to clients.
