Erin Murphy is a partner in the Chicago office of GRSM whose practice focuses on commercial, employment, and general litigation matters in both federal and state courts.
Erin has extensive experience defending clients ranging from Fortune 500 companies to start-ups throughout all stages of litigation. She has first-chaired 38 cases to verdict with favorable outcomes across Illinois. In addition to trial experience, Erin has significant experience representing clients in mediations and arbitrations. She is also an accredited Cook County arbitrator, which provides a valuable perspective to her defense practice.
In her employment practice, Erin defends employers in claims involving discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and wrongful termination. She also represents businesses and individuals in a wide range of complex commercial matters, which includes breach of contract claims, breaches of fiduciary duty, and various business-related torts.
Erin earned her J.D., cum laude, from DePaul University College of Law, where she served as a Legal Writing Tutor for first-year students and received CALI awards for her coursework in Legal Writing and the DePaul Legal Clinics. During law school, Erin volunteered with the DePaul Domestic Violence Legal Clinic assisting petitioners seeking Emergency Orders of Protection in the Cook County Domestic Violence courts, as well as a program with the Cook County Juvenile Detention Center teaching juveniles about their legal rights.
Prior to law school, Erin earned her Bachelor of Science in Political Science and Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Mass Communications from the University of Iowa.
