Kate M. Patrick

Senior Counsel

Kate Patrick is Senior Counsel in the Bankruptcy, Restructuring & Creditors’ Rights practice group. She has significant experience in issues relating to insolvency, restructuring, and bankruptcy law from both the law firm and in-house perspective. During Kate’s more than 20 years of practice, she has represented debtors, debtors-in-possession, trustees, creditors' committees, secured and unsecured creditors, asset purchasers, claim investors, and other parties in bankruptcy and out-of-court workouts and related litigation. 

Kate’s bankruptcy and restructuring experience includes, among other areas, manufacturing, oil and gas, retail, public/private partnerships and corporate finance transactions. Specific areas of focus include issues relating to distressed credit facilities, including defaults and waivers, and various types of intercreditor agreements, wind-downs and liquidations, asset sales and acquisition, and advising various parties on potential exposure and liability during insolvency and pre-bankruptcy planning, including directors and officers as well as parent, subsidiary and affiliate companies.

Kate is a co-founder and former board member and president of the DFW Association of Young Bankruptcy Lawyers. She is also the former co-chair of the Dallas/Fort Worth Network of International Women’s Insolvency & Restructuring Confederation (IWIRC), and former barrister in the John C. Ford Inns of Court.

  • Representation of private investment firm on broad range of issues arising from the financing, operation and ownership of approximately forty-five portfolio companies in diverse industries, such as manufacturing, automotive and aerospace, health care, and beauty
  • Representation of debtors in chapter 11 reorganization of multiple chains of casual dining franchises, oil and gas operating companies, and an assisted living facility
  • Representation of secured lender in structured winddown and closure of business maintenance company with more than 500 accounts across the tri-state area
