Maritza Rodriguez focuses her practice on cases involving complex business litigation matters, including environmental and toxic torts. She also has experience in premise liability, personal injury litigation, dram shop, and products liability matters.
Prior to joining GRSM, Maritza worked at a Chicago law firm where she defended clients in toxic tort and product liability matters across the state of Illinois. Maritza also advocated and advised national corporate clients on matters in civil litigation, including breaches of contract, personal injury litigation, retail hospitality matters, and product liability. She conducted depositions, drafted motions for summary judgment, and mediated cases to settlement.
Maritza earned her J.D. from DePaul University College of Law. While she was in law school she served as the acquisitions editor of the Journal for Social Justice, was an advocate at the Domestic Violence Court House and received various merit scholarships. She also studied abroad at Universidad Pontificas in Madrid, Spain where she learned the intricacies of European Union law.
Prior to law school, Maritza attended the University of Illinois at Chicago where she earned a B.A. in Psychology and a minor in Law & Society. While she was there, she was part of the Honors College and submitted a thesis concerning the United States Criminal Justice System.
Maritza is fluent in both English and Spanish which allows her to communicate with clients throughout all aspects of the litigation process in both languages.
