Michael E. Morley is Senior Counsel in the New York office of GRSM and is a member of the Environmental/Toxic Tort practice group. Michael is a litigation attorney who has handled both large coverage actions as well as insurance defense of various fortune 500 companies. Since joining GRSM Michael’s practice has a primary focus on litigation defense of toxic tort, product liability, general liability and environmental claims.
Prior to joining GRSM Michael was a partner at a large national insurance defense firm which specialized in insurance and reinsurance litigation defense primarily involving Lloyds of London and London Market Company clients. His practice area included investigation and analysis of complex insurance/reinsurance issues involving a variety of long tail toxic tort claims, such as asbestos, silica, breast implant, pharmaceutical, and environmental pollution related cases. These claims typically involved multiple years and layers of insurance and reinsurance coverage, and a variety of issues including interpretation of exclusionary language, allocation/ aggregation issues, and reserving methodology. His clients have included both international and domestic clients who have sought expert analysis of complex claim presentations.
In addition to the investigation and policy contract analysis, Michael has negotiated settlements of numerous multi-million-dollar insurance/reinsurance claims and has participated as coverage counsel in numerous dispute resolution proceedings including mediation, arbitration and litigation.
Michael’s practice has also included providing analysis, coverage opinions and dispute resolution regarding a variety of property and casualty insurance claims including construction defect, contractor liability, and a variety of first party property and casualty insurance claims.
Michael graduated from East Carolina University and received his J.D. from Syracuse University College of Law and is admitted to practice law in Connecticut and New York.
