Thushan M. Sabaratnam is an Associate in the Chicago office of GRSM. His practice concentrates on complex commercial and employment litigation disputes. As a zealous litigator, Thushan handles all facets of a matter from case inception through completion with a critical eye to detail. Throughout his career, Thushan has achieved favorable resolutions for his clients through early settlement negotiations, dispositive motions, arbitration and mediation. He engages in creative and novel legal strategies to position matters for the most favorable outcomes for his clients.
Prior to joining GRSM, Thushan was with a mid-sized Chicago law firm handling all casualty matters. During law school, he served on the Law Review Board, the Moot Court Honors Board, and the South Asian Law Student Association Board. He also competed in Moot Court Competitions and was awarded the Best Brief at the Thomas Tang Regional Competition. In addition, Thushan was granted the Heart of John Marshall Scholarship for his positive influence on the student body.
Thushan is adaptive and flexible, as he has lived in many large North American cities including Toronto before commencing his legal journey in Chicago. His portfolio of diverse experiences has contributed to his advocacy, and he counsels his clients with an open mind to find the most optimal resolution.
Thushan is involved with the South Asian Bar Association as a General Director to bring more awareness and education within the legal community. He is also involved with law schools throughout Illinois to mentor law students and assist in Moot Court Competitions. Outside of the law, Thushan continues his defense as a Taekwondo black belt martial artist that trains adolescences in one of the oldest forms of self-defense. Thushan also enjoys traveling the boundless wonders of the world.
