In a recent article titled "Colorado Leads Diversity", Law Week Colorado recognized Gordon & Rees as the recipient of the 2011 "Diversity Leadership Award" presented by the Diversity in the Legal Profession Committee (DILP) of the Colorado and Denver Bar Associations. Denver Partner Franz Hardy, the Chair of the firm's national Diversity Committee, accepted the award on behalf of the firm.
The Diversity Leadership Award recognizes a Colorado law firm or corporate legal department that is a leader in diversity. Nominees were judged on measurable results in areas including attracting, welcoming, retaining and promoting diverse attorneys.
"In Colorado we are at the forefront nationally of diversity initiatives, which is evidenced each year by the quality and quantity of nominations we receive for DILP's awards. This year was no different, as the competition for the awards was incredible," said DILP Chair Meshach Rhoades in a statement. The DILP Committee is comprised of attorneys from the Denver and Colorado legal communities as well as representatives from the University of Colorado School of Law and the University of Denver College of Law. DILP's goal is to cultivate diversity within the legal community and work with law schools, law students, practicing lawyers, and legal employers throughout Colorado to promote diversity at all levels.
