Effective January 1, 2011, Gordon & Rees has selected David Capell and Linda Moroney to serve as the Managing Partner and Assistant Managing Partner, respectively, of the San Francisco office. Mr. Capell joined Gordon & Rees in 1982 as a law student, became an attorney at the firm upon graduation in 1984, and was named a partner in 1992. Ms. Moroney joined the firm in 2001 and was named a partner in 2003.
Mr. Capell and Ms. Moroney will be taking over the office managing partner responsibilities from James Reilly who served in that capacity since 2007. Founded in 1974 in San Francisco, Gordon & Rees has become a national litigation and business transactions firm with more than 400 lawyers in 17 U.S. offices. More than 125 of the firm's lawyers are located in the San Francisco office and many of them also serve as local, regional, and national litigation coordinating counsel and lead defense counsel for clients with legal needs throughout the U.S.
David Capell: In addition to serving as the San Francisco Office Managing Partner, Mr. Capell will continue to serve as the Chair of the firm's national Insurance Group, which has grown to more than 50 attorneys throughout the U.S. Mr. Capell leads a practice that is prominently ranked in Chambers USA: The Client's Guide to America's Leading Lawyers for Business, and includes a specialty ERISA Group and Life, Health & Disability Group that is one of only four such practices in California named to "The Select List of Law Firms for the Defense in Life, Health & Disability Insurance" by the Res Loquitor Corporation.
Linda Moroney: In addition to serving as the San Francisco Office Assistant Managing Partner, Ms. Moroney will continue to serve in various leadership positions at the firm, including serving as one of the leaders of the firm's Environmental/Toxic Tort Practice group. Ms. Moroney specializes in commercial litigation including product liability, bodily injury, property damage, and professional liability issues, with an emphasis on environmental and mass tort matters, as well as business and real estate disputes.
