In a September 18th article titled "EPL, D&O, Fiduciary Liability Packages May Hinder Midsize Firms," Business Insurance magazine quoted Senior Counsel Patrick Moran as an attendee and panelist at the recent Crittenden Middle Market Accounts Conference held in Chicago. At the Conference, Patrick was a member of a panel that discussed the "Top 10 Insurance Concerns for Today's Middle Market Companies."
In the Business Insurance magazine article, Patrick commented on the escalating defense costs in employment related litigation, noting that oftentimes "(defense costs) can go through the roof. The amount (of defense costs) that we're seeing is terrifying for the middle-market company." The article discusses how the heightened awareness of the potential for discrimination and harassment litigation has convinced many privately held, middle-market companies to purchase employment practices liability insurance. Business Insurance is a publication that serves business executives who are responsible for the purchase and administration of corporate insurance/self-insurance programs.
