The American Bar Association Section of Litigation published an article by Gordon & Rees San Diego partner Charles V. Berwanger in the Spring 2013 Condemnation, Zoning & Land Use Newsletter.
In the article, titled “Land Use Litigation: A Story and a Lawsuit,” Berwanger discussed the complexities of land use litigation as well as the legal skills, judgment and experience needed to represent clients in such cases. In a hypothetical, he illustrated the multitude of moving parts and elements of influence in land use lawsuits and provided lessons so that lawyers who handle land use cases come away with a clearer understanding of the difficulties and the expense involved.
Berwanger co-chairs Gordon & Rees’s Real Estate Practice Group. He has more than 30 years of experience representing clients in real estate, land use, environmental, and business litigation and appeals that involve title issues, the National Environmental Policy Act, real property purchase and sale agreements, secured transactions, and commercial landlord/tenant relationships. He has handled more than 40 cases involving the California Environmental Quality Act.
