Gordon & Rees Washington, D.C., associate Shameka Bloyce has been named to Lawyers of Color's Inaugural Hot List, Mid-Atlantic Region, which recognizes early- to mid-career attorneys under 40 who are excelling in the legal profession.
Lawyers of Color is a media and research company that aims to promote the causes and contributions of minority attorneys. A selection committee comprised of Lawyers of Color editorial staff and advisers, as well as law school fellows and interns, reviewed nominations, bar publications, and legal blogs to identify promising candidates. Editorial picks were based on research of attorneys who had noteworthy accomplishments or were active in legal pipeline initiatives.
Ms. Bloyce focuses her practice on labor and employment. She offers a unique skill set honed and developed by her clerkship in the Seventh Judicial Circuit of Maryland where she worked on a wide range of litigation matters, including the defense of corporate officers in the breach of fiduciary duties and claims of misappropriation, FLSA class-action suits, and the defense of discrimination and civil rights matters. In addition to her litigation skills, she has experience in representing clients in breach of contract actions, conducting client interviews, and drafting pleadings.
