Gordon & Rees Partners to Speak at NAPABA 25th Annual Convention

On Nov. 9, Gordon & Rees Orange County partner Patricia Lee-Gulley and Denver partner Franz Hardy will speak at the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association 25th Annual Convention. The convention is scheduled to take place at the Kansas City Marriott Downtown hotel Nov. 7-11.

Lee-Gulley will participate on the panel “APA Women & the Law” from 9:15 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., which will provide specialized support to a small but increasing number of Asian Pacific American female attorneys. Panelists will highlight the achievements in the APA community, but also discuss the barriers that still exist. They also will provide advice, emphasize skill sets, and establish connections to encourage National Asian Pacific American Law Student Association leaders to use their skills to become leaders in the workplace. Lee-Gulley is the current president of the Orange County Asian-American Bar Association.

Hardy will serve on the panel “When the Jury Does Not Look Like You -- Is Being an Asian Litigator an Advantage or Disadvantage?” From 10:45 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. the panelists will discuss biases about Asian-American litigators and how positive and negative stereotypes of Asian-Americans can affect trial preparation, strategy, and presentation. Hardy is the immediate past-president of the Asian Pacific American Bar Association of Colorado.
