Gordon & Rees partners Tom Packer of the San Francisco and Portland offices and Joe Arnold of Philadelphia recently spoke at the 15th Annual Food Safety Summit in Baltimore. More than 1,500 food and beverage industry professionals attended the three-day event, which is the largest gathering of its kind in the United States.
On May 1, Tom and Joe led a presentation titled "Smoking Guns - Effective Food Liability Programs," which provided valuable insight on how to develop an effective food liability program to contend with food-related claims and lawsuits.
Tom and Joe have longstanding experience in food and beverage borne pathogen outbreaks and litigation, representing and advising food and beverage manufacturers, processors, suppliers, and distributors, as well as restaurants, hotels, and similar establishments. Tom has been retained as regional and national coordinating counsel in multiparty litigation involving a wide range of FDA-regulated products and Joe has represented insurers in resolving nationwide food recalls. Additionally, Tom has been appointed as a member of the Executive Educational Advisory Committee of the Food Safety Summit.
