Angela Hart-Edwards Joins Gordon & Rees’s Washington, D.C., Office as Partner

Angela Hart-Edwards has joined Gordon & Rees’s Washington, D.C., office as a partner in the Employment Law Practice Group. She is a seasoned trial attorney with more than 20 years of experience representing a diverse range of clients in labor and employment-related litigation, civil rights law, government investigations and corporate compliance, and federal sector EEO employment law. Hart-Edwards has tried 57 cases to verdict.

Hart-Edwards brings a wealth of litigation and investigation experience to her clients, having served as a trial attorney for the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and the Department of Justice Civil Rights Division. She also served as assistant U.S. attorney for the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia before she entered private practice in 2008.

She has served as “fire wall counsel” for agencies where she supervised and ensured objectivity of the federal sector EEO complaint process. Additionally, she has provided counsel regarding federal and state regulatory compliance; negotiated and prepared employment and related agreements; prepared employment manuals and policies; advised management on preventative measures to avoid litigation in the context of human resource and EEO regulatory compliance counseling and training; and served as corporate diversity counselor. Her experience includes providing neutral EEO services to government agencies as well as defensive federal sector EEO litigation services to agencies.

Hart-Edwards is a frequent speaker on employment-related topics. She has served as an instructor of corporate executives, lawyers and students on employment-related subjects and corporate diversity counseling for Georgetown Law Center, Rutgers - The State University of New Jersey, The Conference Board, the National Institute for Trial Advocacy, and the Philadelphia Bar Education Center.

She earned her LL.M. from Temple University in Trial Advocacy, her J.D. from the Beasley School of Law at Temple University, and her B.A. from Rutgers University in Labor Studies. She is the recipient of the Charles Glich Award, and has been honored by Diversity MBA Magazine as one of the Top 100 Under 50 Diverse Executive & Emerging Leaders.
