William Ruskin Quoted in Bloomberg BNA Special Report

On April 22, New York Partner William Ruskin was interviewed and quoted in a Bloomberg BNA Special Report titled “Are CERCLA Practitioners Prepared for Climate Change?”

The article discusses how “natural disasters triggered by global climate change threaten the release and spread of hazardous waste,” as well as the “potential impact of climate change on Superfund litigation, cleanups and settlements.” In commenting on preparations for climate change, Ruskin said, “The emphasis needs to be on site assessments and the use of what I call reverse environmental impact studies. It used to be that we would only ask what effect a project will have on the environment. Now, a regulator may ask how the environment may affect the project,” he concluded.

Ruskin is a Partner in the Firm's Environmental/Toxic Tort, Agricultural Chemicals & Pesticides, Drug & Medical Device, and Tort & Product Liability Practice Groups. He has more than 35 years of experience defending major industrial companies and manufacturers nationally in products liability, toxic tort, and environmental actions, including CERCLA. He is a volunteer mediator in the civil mediation program of the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York, having mediated disputes in that court for 20 years, and was recently appointed to the S.D.N.Y.'s Mediation Advisory Committee.
