On September 30, 2017, the Korean American Bar Association of Chicago (KABA) hosted its 24th Anniversary Banquet at the Hotel Palomar in Chicago. Gordon Rees Scully Mansukhani and its Diversity Committee have been a proud and generous sponsor of the event since 2014. The banquet marks the start of Chicago associate Ji Suh’s second year as Secretary on KABA’s Executive Board. Other guests from the firm included Chicago partner and NAPABA Central Region Governor Avanti Bakane.
Founded in 1993, KABA consists of more than 400 member attorneys in various legal sectors in Chicago. The banquet drew more than 150 guests from Illinois’ legal, business and non-profit communities. The keynote speaker of the evening was Jane Kim, Chair of San Francisco’s Government Audit and Oversight Committee and District 6 Supervisor. Special guests included Consul General of the Republic of Korea, Jong-Kook Lee, United States Magistrate Judge for the Northern District of Illinois, Young B. Kim, and Associate Judge of the Circuit Court of Cook County, Rena Van Tine.
KABA’s president Lia Hyunji Kim (Law Offices of Cheng, Cho and Yee) thanked its committed and engaged sponsors such as Gordon & Rees and applauded KABA’s successes in the past years, including the continued growth of the KABA’s Women’s Network, relaunch of its mentorship program, and recognition by NAPABA as a strong, dynamic local affiliate.
