Gordon & Rees Partner Linda Mullany, who recently relocated to the Sacramento office, has received Certification in Healthcare Privacy Compliance (CHPC®). Mullany joins an elite community of fellow healthcare privacy professionals who have demonstrated the required professional experience, education and passed a rigorous examination. Conferred by the Compliance Certification Board (CCB), this certification designates Mullany as someone with knowledge of relevant privacy regulations and expertise in compliance processes sufficient to assist the healthcare industry in understanding and addressing legal obligations and operation of effective compliance programs.
A Registered Nurse, Mullany's practice is devoted to advising healthcare clients on privacy, security and healthcare regulatory matters, including HIPAA, the HITECH Act, and state counterparts. Linda works with clients on corporate compliance matters, including billing and overpayment issues, Stark and Anti-Kickback rules, and other health law issues. Her experience includes litigation, and she has represented health care providers through trial in elder abuse, malpractice, wrongful death, unfair business practices, breach of contract, fraud and other business claims related to healthcare operations. Linda is frequently called upon to structure and develop processes for compliant practices for providers, and the development of risk avoidance policies and procedures.
