Gordon & Rees Philadelphia partner Joshua R. Slavitt presented at the Greater Philadelphia Chapter of the Association of Corporate Counsel's (ACC) annual Intellectual Property CLE Institute at the Union League in Philadelphia on January 26, 2017. Slavitt's presentation, titled "Recent Developments in Intellectual Property Law," reviewed recent cases and trends in intellectual property law, discussed their practical effect, and offered practice pointers in view of such developments. Topics included: patent strategy (where to file and why and current trends in portfolio management); IP licensing (arbitrability, scope of arbitration, and exclusive licensee standing to sue); and patent enforcement (pleading and venue requirements, current state of § 101 challenges, current statistics on inter partes review, current trends in litigation financing, and patent enforcement in other countries).
