The Mississippi Business Journal has named of counsel attorney Hiawatha Northington II among its 2019 Leaders in Law class. Each year the Mississippi Business Journal recognizes a select group of attorneys who exhibit both the legal success and the qualities of character that exemplify this honor. In December, a reception and awards celebration was held to recognize the 2019 honorees.
Over his career, Northington has successfully represented small towns and large municipalities, publicly traded and closely-held corporations, and individuals and insurance companies in a variety of litigated matters. He has successfully first-chaired more than 20 bench and jury trials across Mississippi and Louisiana in both federal and state courts, as well as in arbitration, obtaining several multi-million dollar judgments for his clients. His experience also has allowed him to favorably resolve hundreds of claims for his clients prior to trial, through motion practice and mediation. Northington also served as an adjunct professor of legal writing and appellate advocacy at the Mississippi College School of Law for 10 years.
