Gordon Rees Scully Mansukhani Denver associate Jeremy Speckhals authored an article "Four-Year Limitations Period Against Attorneys? Perhaps No Longer," published in the March/April edition of the Utah Bar Journal.
The article discusses three rulings issued by the Utah Supreme Court in the summer of 2019 that impact all attorneys in the state. Speckhals explores these three cases in detail and provides practical implications of each; including the extension of the four-year statute of limitations applicable to malpractice actions against attorneys and malpractice insurance needs.
The Utah Bar Journal is published six times each year and is received by every attorney and paralegal division member who maintain an active, current, or inactive-full service license with the Utah State Bar. The current circulation is approximately 10,800.
Speckhals is a member of the firm's Professional Liability Defense practice group. He is a 2010 graduate of the University of Colorado, and a 2014 graduate of the University of Colorado Law School. After graduating from law school, he clerked for various trial and appellate court judges in Colorado, Arizona, and Utah.
As a trial court clerk, he learned the ins and outs of litigation from the judge’s perspective. After he finished clerking, Speckhals entered civil practice in Salt Lake City where he worked for a respected civil defense firm.
