Yesterday’s significant verdict in the Derek Chauvin trial convicting him of the murder of George Floyd offers a moment of important reflection, reminding us that while accountability and the rule of law remain fundamental constructs of our justice system much important work remains ahead.
In the face of these continuing events, our solidarity as citizens as well as professionals remains as important as ever in order to stand as a unifying front against racial injustice and bigotry. While racism continues, we have not been idle, as many have participated in taking part in impactful acts of unification and understanding. This collective resolve also reflects our values at Gordon Rees Scully Mansukhani. As a law firm, we especially recognize our obligations to the broader community to foster an environment of inclusion, understanding, acceptance, and justice.
Yet, we understand there is more to do and that racism will not “just go away.” Gordon & Rees reaffirms that it unequivocally condemns and decries racism and racial injustice of all forms in the strongest terms, and is committed to their permanent eradication. We will always remain devoted to maintaining and fostering a professional environment where inclusiveness, acceptance, diversity, and magnanimity are upheld as our most important cultural values. There remains much work ahead and only focused, concerted, and continued effort will bring about lasting and meaningful change. We look forward to continuing to work with our outstanding community of more than 1,500 colleagues across the country on these fundamental and crucial issues and welcome and applaud everyone’s continued participation and allyship in our efforts to promote a culture of respect and inclusion, as well as our conscious efforts to build a better future for communities of color.
