New York Senior Counsel Joseph T. Rivera, Jr. successfully coached and lead a talented group of third year law students this semester from his alma mater, Fordham Law, to a First Place finish in the Southern Classic Trial Advocacy Competition hosted by the University of Mississippi School of Law.
The dedicated team of young talent competed against 15 other teams over the course of three days and emerged victorious thanks to their skill, hard work, and guidance from Rivera and his co-coach, Karen Alunkal. Two of the students also tied for the Best Advocate Overall Award, the competition’s most esteemed individual award.
Since 2013, Rivera has served as an Adjunct Professor at Fordham Law where he teaches and coaches law student members of Fordham Law’s Brendan Moore Trial Advocacy Program in preparation for national trial advocacy competitions.
Rivera is a member of the firm's Product & General Liability practice group where he focuses his practice on defending foreign manufacturers, distributors and retailers, including various Fortune 500 companies, in complex commercial product liability actions in federal and state courts throughout the United States and Canada.
