Gordon Rees Scully Mansukhani welcomes Thomas Tarkoff as a partner in the firm’s San Francisco office. He joins the firm’s Maritime, Environmental/Toxic Tort, and Professional Liability Defense practice groups.
Tarkoff has been involved in litigation for over 25 years with extensive experience in multiple practice areas including maritime litigation. He routinely advises his clients in personal injury and wrongful death matters involving issues related to Jones Act claims, passenger injury claims and product liability matters.
As part of his practice, he also provides guidance involving the defense of commercial, intellectual property, general liability and product liability disputes. Tarkoff routinely manages national litigation portfolios for his clients and has been integral in the development and implementation of successful litigation management and dispute resolution strategies. He has also successfully tried a number of cases to verdict in multiple jurisdictions throughout the country.
Tarkoff regularly serves as outside general counsel and national coordinating counsel for his clients. He provides strategic and legal counseling concerning legal risk mitigation strategies in multiple subject areas ranging from commercial and compliance matters to product development and privacy issues. He also regularly partners with executives, product managers and engineers to develop and implement results-oriented solutions to address a variety of legal issues across multiple jurisdictions.
Tarkoff has lectured on a variety of topics related to risk assessment, commercial and compliance initiatives, product development and privacy issues to C-suite executives, operations and business teams, and in-house counsel. He has served on the Alumni Boards of Northwestern University and the University of the Pacific. He has also served on the Parent Advisory Council for the University of Alabama.
He is licensed to practice in California, Illinois, Washington and before the United States Supreme Court.

He earned his law degree from University of Pacific, McGeorge School of Law and his undergraduate degree from Northwestern University.
