Gordon Rees Scully Mansukhani was recently featured in an American Lawyer article focusing on law firms operating in emerging markets and how the pandemic has played a part in the need for physical office space, as the acceptance of remote work allows firms to take less space.
“The pandemic kind of turned the whole equation on its head,” says Dion Cominos, managing partner of Gordon Rees Scully Mansukhani, which has offices in 50 states.
The article continues, “Gordon & Rees now goes through a “very different set of analytical questions” when vetting an opportunity. The firm has developed an eight-point test for office functionality, determining when people should be coming in and for what reasons.”
The Am Law 100 firm now opens locations in “second-harvest markets” for three reasons, including client needs, access to a talented labor pool, and the “lifestyle component,” which has led to opening offices in some smaller markets because of a “great partner who wants to live there.”
“We want to transcend the arbitrary borders of what an office is thought to be and develop a structure that’s reflective of 21st century reality, our clients’ needs, and the lifestyle of the modern workforce,” Cominos said.
