Denver Of Counsel Marilyn S. Chappell has been honored by the Colorado Judicial Institute ("CJI") with its 2023 DeMuth Volunteer Award.
CJI is a nonprofit that promotes excellence, equity, impartiality, and public trust in Colorado's courts. CJI was formed in 1979 to support Colorado’s judiciary and merit-based judicial selection system, adopted when voters rejected partisan judicial elections. CJI annually recognizes outstanding state court judicial officers and provides support for judicial education.
Ms. Chappell, a CJI emeritus board member, has extensively volunteered with CJI. Her work includes serving as a three-term board member, heading up public policy efforts, and providing testimony to the Colorado legislature on judicial discipline and judicial performance evaluation bills.
Ms. Chappell has extensive experience in handling insurance litigation and coverage issues for numerous insurance clients. She also has substantial experience in commercial litigation matters.
