Gordon Rees Scully Mansukhani was recognized as the most active law firm in the United States in contract litigation in Lex Machina’s 2023 Law Firms Activity Report.
Lex Machina rankings represent the most active law firms by total appearances in cases filed from 2020 to 2022 in more than 15 practice areas.
According to the report, Peter G. Siachos, Managing Partner of GRSM's Charleston office and Co-Chair of the firm's Commercial Litigation and Class Action practice groups, handled the most cases at the firm and the third-most contract cases of any attorney in the United States from 2020 to 2022.
Although Lex Machina's report tracks a decline in the number of contract case filings since 2013, Siachos says that the amount of work in terms of total hours has remained constant and is driven by his representation of franchisors in litigation with their franchisees.
Siachos explains, "As the economy has improved and the pandemic has waned, I think consumers were able to go into retail stores and partake in the services offered by franchisees, which in turn led to fewer of those businesses defaulting on their agreements with franchisors."
He credits GRSM's success in handling more contract cases than any other firm to the firm's ability to offer service to clients in all 50 states and the firm's robust Commercial Litigation practice group, with nearly 700 attorneys equipped to handle multi-party and complex claims in every substantive area of commercial law.
