Philadelphia Partner Michael J. Cawley was selected for a five-year term in the "Masters" membership category by the Board of the Villanova University Charles Widger School of Law J. Willard O'Brien American Inn of Court ("Villanova Inn"). Mr. Cawley's nomination was sponsored by the Honorable Anne Marie Coyle of the Court of Common Pleas of Philadelphia County.
Established in 2020, the Villanova Inn is a nationally recognized, award-winning chartered member of the American Inn of Courts ("AIC") and shares in AIC's mission to promote professionalism, civility, ethics, and excellent legal skills among members of the bench and bar. The organization also applies AIC's membership and program model, adopting the English Inns of Court tradition of legal apprenticeship by developing continuing legal education and skills development programs and exchanging legal concepts, ideas, and techniques. Membership in AIC requires a nomination from a current member, the submission of an application, and further consideration by voting members of the organization.
Mr. Cawley concentrates his practice on insurance coverage, bad faith disputes, professional liability, product liability, and cyber, privacy, and data security issues. He has extensive trial and appellate experience in state, federal, and bankruptcy courts and has practiced in jurisdictions across the United States. He has been recognized by Best Lawyers in America in Insurance Law since 2018.
