Today, on March 8, we celebrate International Women’s Day, a day that recognizes the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women and marks a call to action for accelerating women’s equality. The 2024 Gordon Rees Scully Mansukhani Women’s Initiative theme, “Beyond Boundaries: Women Leading Change," celebrates women's leadership, innovation, and transformative impact, emphasizing their ability to break barriers, challenge norms, and drive positive change within the firm and across industries.
"As we celebrate International Women’s Day, GRSM recognizes and celebrates the invaluable contributions of women to our firm and the legal profession," said Debra Ellwood Meppen, Chair of the firm’s national Women’s Initiative. "Actively championing the inclusion of women not only serves to foster a more equitable workplace but it also cultivates greater diversity in thought and a more complete sense of belonging and engagement for all. Our commitment to empowerment of women undoubtedly serves to propel our team toward its' highest potential."
Over the past 15 years, GRSM has expanded from 300 attorneys across 13 offices to more than 1,300 attorneys in 78 offices across all 50 states. Amidst this remarkable growth, the firm has remained steadfast in its commitment to inclusion and diversity at the highest levels. At present, female managing partners represent 50 percent of the firm's office leadership nationwide, and women make up 46 percent of all attorneys, 51 percent of associates, and 37 percent of partners. As a result, the firm now ranks among the Top 15 Law Firms for Women Attorneys at firms with 600+ female attorneys, as recognized by Law360.
This International Women’s Day, we encourage each individual to engage in initiatives aimed at cultivating a more gender-equal world. By confronting gender stereotypes, biases, and inequalities head on, and fostering collaboration, we can create a more inclusive environment that supports the advancement and well-being of all individuals.
