The Phoenix attorney Deanna Rader successfully obtained an injunction to help protect a teacher and students from a parent’s harassing behavior. The matter involved a K-8th grade charter school that was having difficulty with a parent of one of its students. The parent was coming on campus and engaging in abusive and intimidating behavior in front of students. The student's teacher filed a petition for an injunction against harassment, which the judge would not issue without a hearing. The Director of the school contacted Gordon & Rees to assist the teacher at the evidentiary hearing to address the statutory requirements for issuing an injunction.
After the strategy was established with Deanna and the client, we were successful in getting an injunction issued that not only prevents contact with the teacher who filed the petition but also prevents the parent from coming on campus except to pick up her child and then she must remain in her car.
