Phoenix partner Steve Tully and associate Monica Ryden won an election dispute against the City of Glendale, Arizona. The Glendale city clerk had rejected petitions filed by Save Glendale Now, a group representing local businesses supporting an initiative to overturn a recent city sales tax increase. Steve and Monica filed a special action to force the city to accept the petitions, and after losing on one issue at the trial court, they successfully appealed the lower court's decision to the court of appeals which also awarded Save Glendale Now its attorneys fees and costs. The Arizona Supreme Court denied Glendale's petition seeking review of the court of appeals' decision. The initiative will appear on the November ballot.
