Gordon & Rees Orange County partner Stephanie Alexander, with support from partner Tara Martin and paralegal Sonya Storc, obtained a defense verdict on December 23rd , following an 8 day jury trial in Orange County Superior Court. The firm’s client is the principal of and a named partner of a boutique Orange County litigation firm. The Plaintiff, a former associate of the defendant law firm, alleged she was subject to unwanted romantic overtures from the client, and then ostracized and retaliated against when she rejected the romantic overtures. She alleged both quid pro quo and hostile work environment harassment against Gordon & Rees’s client, and sexual harassment, retaliation, and constructive wrongful termination against the defendant law firm, which was represented separately by attorneys from that firm. At trial, Alexander took the lead on the sexual harassment claims, and the co-defendant firm took the lead on the wrongful termination and retaliation claims. After deliberating approximately three hours, the jury returned a defense verdict on all claims.
