Gordon Rees Scully Mansukhani Partner Mike Laurenson and Senior Counsel Vivian Countryman recently obtained an arbitration award in favor of GRSM’s client, a global energy corporation.
The claimant was a former employee who sued for gender discrimination, harassment, whistleblower retaliation, and retaliation in violation of the Dodd-Frank Act, seeking in excess of $5 million. She alleged that she was terminated after she made reports of improper accounting, workplace health and safety violations, and workplace bullying and harassment.
Laurenson and Countryman argued that the client had eliminated the claimant’s position because it was redundant and the decision had been made before her complaints. Twenty witnesses testified over five days, both in person and remotely. The arbitrator issued a 54-page final award, finding for GRSM’s client on all claims.
