"Insurance: The Devil is in the Details" is the title of a course Gordon & Rees Miami Partner and former Chief Judge of Florida's 3rd District Court of Appeals, David M. Gersten, and the Honorable Frank A. Shepherd, Appellate Judge, Third District Court of Appeals, Miami, will teach on Tuesday, May 24, 2016. Also joining the instructors is Gordon & Rees Office Co-Managing Partner Robin Taylor Symons, who will assist with the course presentation by providing background on insurance history.
The course will cover all elements of insurance litigation including:
•Origin, history and purpose of insurance.
•Various types of insurance currently used in Florida.
•Florida's bad faith statute and case law.
•Which party holds the burden of proof in various situations arising in insurance cases.
The course is a part of a week-long educational conference, May 23-27, offered by the Florida College of Advanced Judicial Studies. The program courses are designed to provide continuing education for Florida's judges including: Appellate, Trial, Senior, Volunteer, and Magistrate and for Child Support Enforcement Hearing Officers.
